In January 2013, Dave and Vicky Schmitting purchased Westby Production Components which was in business for 25 years. They changed the name to BDS Fastener & Supply, LLC. BDS is a family owned full line fastener distributor located in Port Washington, WI. While changing the name, the company has not changed its philosophy. BDS still continues to focus on providing superior customer service. We are ISO certified fastener distributor, and provide to our customers, services such as, Vendor Managed Inventory Programs (VMI) for their Class C Commodities, kitting, bagging/custom packaging, and specialty and standard fastener products.
Dave has been in the fastener industry for 36 years. He worked 24 years with a leading Fastener Distributor, during that period of time he held various positions from order puller to operations manager. He gained valuable experience and knowledge during this time. Dave then went to work for a Cold Header manufacturer of fasteners as a Sales Manager for eight years. Dave wanted to get back into fastener distribution and he worked for Westby Production Components for 4 ½ years until he purchased the company.
BDS has a strong presence with customers in the Midwest and more customers all over the United States. The changes in the economy have helped BDS work with many companies. We have customers now located in Mexico, Canada, Italy, Belgium and Switzerland.

After college, Brian worked at a staffing agency doing recruiting and sales for 3 years. Brian started in the fastener industry in 2010 working in the warehouse. Brian is currently doing inside and outside sales. Brian enjoys spending time with his wife Kayla and their two children, Kai and Aubree.
Joe started at Westby Production Components in 2004 right out of college working in the warehouse. He worked in the warehouse until 2008 when he was brought into the office as part of the purchasing department and later in the year as our in-house IT guy. Joe is still working in purchasing and IT, as well as helping out in the warehouse/QC when needed.
Ron has been in fastener distribution for 21 years. He worked in several departments – warehouse, quality control, sales and also held positions from packer, material handling, supervision, sales administrator, and branch manager. He designed process flow/layout for our warehouse to increase efficiency and accuracy. He has adapted customer requirements/programs to our capabilities to create efficient product procurement/replenishment. Ron also has experience working with engineers/customers/manufacturers in new part design and current part improvement to meet functional/economic requirements.
Gary served in the United States Marine Corps, and since then has been in quality for the last 15 years. His experience in the quality industry covers everything from aviation to medical. Gary has enjoyed the camaraderie of BDS Fasteners for the last 6 years. Gary enjoys spending time with his family at the campsite.
Amy has spent many years in different areas of the service/beer industry. She has been at BDS for 4 years were she started as a sourcing agent and moved into an Account Manager role. She enjoys spending time with my kids and partner, camping, gardening and being outside.
Patrick has worked in many industries from owning a bar, embroidery to HVAC warranty and repair. Patrick started at BDS in 2010 as the delivery driver. Patrick has a variety of experience at BDS from picking orders, packing, kitting, and vendor managed inventory. He was promoted into an account manager role were he makes sure all customers’ needs are met.
